1. Who we are
Seaview Accounting ("we", "us", "our") is an accounting practice based on the Isle of Man and the data controller responsible for your personal data under the Isle of Man Data Protection Act 2018 and the GDPR as it applies on the Island (the "Applied GDPR"). We are registered with the Isle of Man Information Commissioner (registration number R750409), and we operate as a Registered Designated Business with the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority, supervised for anti-money-laundering purposes through our membership of the Institute of Financial Accountants.
2. The information we collect
What we collect depends on how you interact with us.
If you visit this website: our hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address in its server logs in order to deliver the site securely. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them through the cookie banner (see section 9).
If you email us or use the enquiry form: your name, email address, the name of your business if you give it, and whatever you choose to include in your message. The form sends this straight to our own mailbox. It is not stored in a third-party form service, and no marketing list is built from it.
If you become a client, or begin onboarding as one:
- Identity and contact details (name, email, phone, address);
- Business and financial information needed to provide our services;
- Know-Your-Customer (KYC) / due-diligence documents, such as proof of identity, proof of address and source-of-funds information, which we are required to collect as a Designated Business;
- Information you upload to or submit through our client portal, where you use it.
3. How we use your information
We use your personal data to respond to enquiries, to provide accounting and advisory services, to meet our legal and regulatory obligations (including anti-money-laundering customer due diligence under the Isle of Man AML/CFT framework), to communicate with you, and to administer your account and our client portal.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process your data on the basis of: performance of our contract with you; compliance with legal obligations (including the Isle of Man AML/CFT framework); our legitimate interests in running and improving our practice; and, where required, your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your data. We may share it with regulators and government bodies where legally required (for example the Isle of Man Income Tax Division, Customs & Excise, or the Financial Services Authority), with trusted service providers acting on our instructions (such as our website hosting and analytics providers, secure cloud accounting software and our portal provider), and with your other professional advisers where you ask us to.
6. International transfers
Some of the service providers we use process data outside the Isle of Man, for example in the United Kingdom, the European Union or the United States. Where personal data leaves the Island we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, as required by Isle of Man data-protection law.
7. Storage, security and retention
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. We retain records for as long as needed to provide our services and to meet legal and regulatory retention requirements. Under the Isle of Man AML/CFT framework we must keep customer due diligence records for at least five years after the end of the business relationship, so we cannot delete those earlier even if you ask us to.
8. Your rights
Under the Isle of Man Data Protection Act 2018 and the Applied GDPR you have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability, subject to legal limits (including the AML retention rules above). To exercise any right, contact us using the details below.
9. Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how this website is used, and only with your consent: a banner asks before anything is set, declining sets nothing, and your choice is remembered on your device. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookies link in the footer. Analytics data is processed for us by Google and may be processed outside the Isle of Man (see section 6). The client portal, where you use it, may set strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in.
The contact page also runs Cloudflare Turnstile, which is what tells a real enquiry apart from an automated one. It is necessary for the form to work at all, so it runs without asking: without it the form would be a spam inbox within a week. It stores a short-lived token on the page to carry the result of that check, sends no data to an advertising network, and is not used to track you between visits or across other websites. If you would rather not use it, email us at the address below instead and nothing on this page runs.
10. Contact & complaints
For any privacy query or to exercise your rights, email info@seaviewaccounting.com. If you are unhappy with our response, you have the right to complain to the Isle of Man Information Commissioner.
